WILD

SWIMMING

The Lake District is home to over 200 bodies of water making it a Mecca for aspiring and seasoned wild swimmers alike. The landscape is teeming with river pools, tumbling waterfalls and serene tarns along with the iconic lakes, meres and waters at valley level, all with their own unique Lakeland vista to enjoy during your swim!

Swim guides Becki and Dan have made it their mission during their years exploring the area to seek out the most idyllic swim venues to visit, and lead trips all year round. We can provide wetsuits, hats, gloves, boots and tow floats if you would like them or you are welcome to bring your own along with swimwear and towel.

Swim Amongst Mountains (1/2 Day)

Take a short, low-level walk to discover one of the Lake District's more accessible swim spots. This can be a river, lake or waterfall swim and is perfect for combining with another 1/2 day activity! We also offer the opportunity to swim at sunrise, sunset and even in the dark for an extra special wild swim experience.

Swimming with Altitude (Full Day)

Hike in to one of the more remote Lake District mountain tarns or waterfalls. Leave civilisation behind as you disappear into the back and beyond, basking in the wildest of waters. Enjoy lunch on the shore listening to the tranquil lapping and ripples, all the while gazing at jaw dropping mountain scenery.

We had an amazing guided walk with Becki. The walk took us to a secluded water fall where we took a swim. It was an amazing experience I will never forget!
Becki was great company and is very knowledgeable about the area. My husband isn't a swimmer but still enjoyed the walk and being near the water in this special spot.
I felt completely safe with Becki and it gave me the confidence to swim and really enjoy the water.
Highly recommend Into the Outside.
Don't hesitate - have an adventure!

Becki and Dan have taken me to some incredible places and given me some of my very best wild swimming experiences - such as the swim in a deep pool with a waterfall at the end of a long walk in Borrowdale, or the morning swim around the island in Derwent Water on a canoe & hammock camp trip.

They seem to know all the hidden secret places in the Lake District that only locals would know about so you have the chance to find that much needed solitude and wilderness. I did a small group yoga session and wild swim with them up at a mountain tarn and we literally had the place to ourselves - just fabulous!

I never expected to feel so happy and comfortable mountain climbing and tarn-swimming for the first time—especially as a solo traveller! Dan met me where I was at with such natural respect, enthusiasm, playfulness, and professionalism that I experienced something even bigger than tarn-swimming on Blencathra! Do it.
